Newcastle United have officially unveiled their 2025/26 away kit by adidas, introducing a striking design that blends modern performance technology with a deep connection to the city’s heritage. Dominated by a bold green colourway, the kit pays homage to the iconic Tyne Bridge, one of Newcastle’s most recognisable landmarks, while ensuring players and fans alike enjoy maximum comfort both on and off the pitch.
Design and Technical Features
The adidas Newcastle United 2025/26 away jersey stands out with its crisp “Team Green” base, complemented by subtle darker green horizontal striping that forms a series of arch patterns across the shirt. These arches mirror the structure of the Tyne Bridge, creating a visual link between the city and the club’s journey on the road.
White detailing enhances the design, with a V-neck collar, adidas logo, Sela sponsor branding, and a monochrome Newcastle United crest all rendered in bright contrast. An “NUFC” sign-off appears on the back of the collar, adding a tailored finish to the shirt.
Completing the kit are white shorts with green adidas three-stripe detailing and green socks featuring a Magpie icon – a nod to the club’s famous nickname.
From a performance perspective, the authentic player jersey is built with an engineered base fabric to optimise movement and breathability. The replica version incorporates adidas’ AEROREADY technology, designed to wick away moisture and keep supporters cool during matches and beyond.
History and Inspiration
The inspiration behind the shirt’s arched design comes directly from Newcastle’s Tyne Bridge, a symbol of industrial strength and architectural beauty. adidas aimed to ensure that a piece of the city travels with the team wherever they play, reinforcing the club’s bond with its home and its supporters.
This season’s away kit continues a tradition of bold alternate colours for Newcastle, returning to green for the first time since the 2022/23 season. The shade, officially named “Team Green,” has strong associations with the club’s ownership era and mirrors the colour of the Saudi Arabia national team’s home kit.
Usage and Debut
The new away kit will make its on-pitch debut on 30 July 2025 when Newcastle United face Team K-League as part of their pre-season tour in South Korea. The shirt will feature exclusive name and number printing to commemorate the tour.
